What is the National Electric Code
The National Electrical CodeBook (NEC) is an influential publication developed by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in conjunction with other public and private entities.
The most recent version of the NEC is the 2005 Version made effective and approved as the American National Standard in September, 2004. The NEC is updated and revised every three years, the most predominant version adopted by 32 states is the 2002 NEC.
The NEC is an enormous document (an introduction and nine chapters totaling over 1200 pages) that covers all aspects of electrical construction and operation for all forms of real estate buildings including those owned and operated by commercial, governmental and corporate organizations.
